2010 marks 150 years since the Cadet movement first started, when the Cadet Corps was formed to help bolster the country’s defence numbers following heavy losses in the Crimean War. Today’s Cadet Forces are quite different organisations, having evolved into unique voluntary youth organisations, offering young people opportunities to develop themselves, try new adventures and activities, and learn key lessons in citizenship and the importance of society. Cadet150 is a great opportunity for young people across the UK to find out more about the four groups making up the Cadet Forces; the Combined Cadet Force which is run through schools, the Sea Cadet Corps, the Army Cadet Force and the Air Training Corps.
If you’re an adult who’s thinking about volunteering some of your time and supporting a youth organisation, then why not consider one of the Cadet Forces? They are truly exceptional organisations offering you opportunities and experiences you won’t find elsewhere.
