Unit Role:
579 Field Squadron (EOD) is part of 101 (City of London) Engineer Regiment (the only Territorial Army Bomb Disposal Regiment).
 The primary role of the Squadron is Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) in particular it provides EOD capability support to 29 EOD and Search Gp in order to contribute to the Land Component of the UK's military capability. The Regiment also recruits Vehicle Mechanics, Chefs, Clerks and Combat Medical Technicians.
Training:
We train every Tuesday from 20.00-22.00 plus one or two weekends a month. Training opportunities includes Combat Engineer training for specific skills, which include Mine Clearance, Demolitions, Communications, and Driving as well as in their main role of Explosive Ordnance Disposal.
